Nestled into the Umpqua Forest, Eugene, Oregon is a very busy college town that bustles about 24/7. A very rainy urban oasis in the middle of dense green forest. Within this town, among the unsuspecting human race, live vampires, just like anywhere else in the world. Currently staying on the Northern outskirts are a coven of governing vampires dedicated to the keeping of the Code. The Code is the vampire law that all vampires must abide. Of course, there are delinquents.
Live as a vampire or human in the world of Ashen Nights. Abide by the Code or break it and face the consequences. Create your own coven or your own empire... For the vampire, the whole world is a playground.

Vampires are different in every game. Some games let the have special powers, some do not. Some games go further than what is thought to be right, some do not... In this game, I will outline what vampires can and can't do. To clear up any confusion....
Immortality Vampires here, of course, are immortal. They can live forver without ageing or disease. They can be killed, however. By removal of the head or incapacitating them for enough time to burn the body. Stabbing the heart doesn't work. As their hearts don't beat anyway. Removal of limbs and limited internal body parts will grow back in time, faster the more one feeds. This process can take a week for internal organs, a month or two for limbs. Organs such as the stomach, esophagus, or anything needed for drinking blood, may kill the vampire.
Thirst Humans and animals are both prey for the vampire. Everything has its own distinct flavor. Vampires can go an average of two weeks without drinking blood, however the thirst returns after about twelve hours from the previous meal and only gets stronger over time.
Food and Drink The vampire does not urinate or have bowl movements. All human food and drink, anything that is not blood really, must be vomited in order to purge the body of their unatural meal.
Venom Vampires have a venomous saliva that causes a sensation of being stabbed all over the body. A very, very, very painful feeling. It incapacitates humans, making them wish for death as you drain them. If you let the victim live, then the venom will continue to turn them into a vampire.
Self-Control It takes many many years to gain perfect, unyeilding, self-control. On average, about 90-150 years. Until then, a simple cat scratch can cause a vampire to lose all control and attack the scratched human. Once the vampire smells blood, it is very hard to resist. Once the vampire tastes blood, it is nearly impossible to stop. So many vampires-to-be are killed simply because the vampire cannot stop drinking the human's blood. A slave to thirst and instinct.
Daylight Daylight does not harm the vampires here. However, daylight is bright to vampire eyes. Very dark sunglasses may be needed to navagate the daytime world.
Appearance Vampires here have the pale skin of death, but are beautiful. Their eye color varies just as much as a human's. Their appearances can vary just as much as a human's as well. They have fangs, (enlongated canine teeth) as well. Oh joy. They are fixed, meaning they do not extend or retract.
Super Powers ... don't make me laugh. Vampires here don't have magical abilities. They can't read minds or talk to animals. They cannot fly or shapeshift. They are not psychic nor can they raise an army of undead followers. Think of what a human can do, zip. There you go.
Physical Strengths Vampires, regardless of what I said about special powers, do have other abilities. They are extreamly fast, running speeds can average 78 miles an hour. Walking speeds can reach 35 miles an hour. They are also extreamly strong. They are able to lift frieght/semi trucks (without the frieght/load/trailor) over their heads. Though that is about the extent of it. Lifting that much weight is diffuclt, though possible. And do to their strength caution is to be used when handling everyday objects... and lives.
Common Myths Vampires do have releftions. Vampires can go in sunlight. Garlic does not effect them, nor do crosses and holy water. They don't sleep in coffins nor do they need to sleep in their home soil. They can cross bodies of water. Shoving something through their non-beating hearts will not kill them. They can enter any house they want without having to be invited.
Other Facts Vampires do not need to breathe. But they need to breathe in order to smell and talk, since the passing of air through the sinuses and voice box is needed to do that. (Because of this, they are also great swimmers.) They can hold perfectly still, like a statue. They have amazing senses, such as sight, hearing, and smell. Vampires, aside from normal speech can also growl, hiss, and on occasion of extreame emotion, roar... in a way. They are usally extreamly beautiful. Their body temperature hovers at around 48 degrees F. They do not need sleep, but can. It is a good way to pass empty time. They don't scar unless the wound is touched by a vampire's venom. Vampires cannot sexually reproduce, so they can not have children. Doesn't mean they don't like sex, it is just a good useless time waster.
Smoke and Mirrors Stealth is of upmost priority. The humans must not know vampires exist. Everything vampires do must be in secret. If a human finds out, they will be killed. Offending Vampires may also be killed.
